Brukental National Museum

Brukental Palace is one of the most important Baroque monuments in Romania and contains Brukental Museum, where you can admire numerous works of art, paintings, graphics, furniture, silverware, religious vestments and oriental rugs. The library contains a collection of over 300,000 books. It was opened to the public in 1790, three years before the opening of the Louvre Museum.


Astra Museum 

Astra Museum of Traditional Folk Civilization is located at 4 kilometers from Sibiu, in Dumbrava Sibiului. The open air museum was founded in 1963 and covers an area of ​​over 40 hectares. This area includes all Romanian traditional occupations: hunting and fishing in the Danube Delta, the shepherding in plain villages, fruit farming, grape growing, weaving and much more.

The oldest exhibit at the Museum Astra is a wooden hydraulic mill with bottom adduction, which is found also in the museum logo. The public can admire village houses, craft workshops, church, school, village pub or bowling.

One of the most spectacular exhibitions of the museum is the one of wind and water mills. 


Liars Bridge

Liars Bridge is one of the most legendary places in Sibiu. He is also one of the most romantic places, which attracts thousands of visitors. The bridge connects the Piata Mica (Small Square) and Piata Huet (Huet Square) and thus connects the Lower Town of Upper Town.

Liars Bridge was rebuilt in 1859 and was the first bridge in Romania and the second in Europe made of cast iron.

The bridge is the source of many legends, but the spiciest of them referring to bodily cleanliness of young girls who met here with their boyfriends. After the wedding, the lying brides were dragged to the bridge where they were thrown to be punished for false oaths.


Council Tower

Council Tower is a symbol of Sibiu. It houses a museum and the entrance is a small door, and climb is full of adventures, on the narrow scale, concentrically disposed. On the penultimate floor of the tower you can admire the clock’s mechanism which gives the exact time.

The top floor of the tower shows you a beautiful view of the entire city.


Stairs Passage

The Stairs Passage is one of the most picturesque places in Old Sibiu and is known as the Wall with pins. It connects the Upper Town and Lower Town through stairs and arcades surrounding the fortress walls around the Evangelical Church.


Evangelical Cathedral

Evangelical Cathedral is one of the most impressive buildings in the historic center of Sibiu. The cathedral tower has a height of over 73 meters and is visible from any part of town.

The church is known for its organ, built in Baroque style in 1671, the largest organ in southeastern Europe.
